Jeez O’Pete! I am awful at keeping up with this thing. No, I didn’t have a UTNL2 show this past Sunday, Christmas Eve and there won’t be one for this coming Sunday, New Year’s Eve. But, I dropped the ball on you, Dear Reader. I didn’t post the LAST one, the Punk Rock Christmas one that I was so excited to bring you. I guess once I finished, I had to take the proverbial “smoke break” and just didn’t come back to work.
So, this one came off without a hitch with the exception and omission of one song. I’ll tell you which one in the setlist. Here it is:
Dropkick Murphys – The Season’s Upon Us
The Smashing Pumpkins – Christmastime
Lemmy, Billy Gibbons, Dave Grohl – Run Rudolph Run
The Used – Alone This Holiday
The Damned – There Ain’t No Sanity Clause
Fall Out Boy – Yule Shoot Your Eye Out
Cheap Trick – Merry Christmas Darlings
Jarrod Alonge – 12 Days of a Pop-Punk Christmas
Unwritten Law – Please Come Home for Christmas
Something Corporate – Forget December
Ramones – Merry Christmas I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight
Relient K – Merry Christmas, Here’s to Many More
Tenacious D & Sum 41 – Things I Want

No Use for a Name – Fairytale of New York
Iggy Pop – White Christmas (didn’t play – ran out of time)
Rise Against – Making Christmas
Korn – Kidnap the Sandy Claws
El Vez – Feliz Navidad
Eddie and the Hot Rods – It Feels Like Christmas
The Suicide Machines – You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch
The Darkness – Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End)
NOFX – Xmas Has Been X’ed
The Vandals – My First Christmas, as a Woman
New Found Glory – Nothing For Christmas
Alice Cooper – Santa Claws is Coming to Town
The Dickies – Silent Night
Sloppy Seconds – Hooray for Santa Claus

August Burns Red – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
New Found Glory – Ex-Miss
That’s a lot of songs and the trudgiest Xmas song ever, White Christmas from Iggy Pop just missed due to time restraints in the first hour. The beauty of this week was – whilst there were several “normal-length” songs on the list, Punk Rock is known for its quick and punchy songs. Therefore, there was time to throw in extras. Plus, I wasn’t as talkative as I normally am. What am I gonna say? Here’s a Christmas song. Here’s another one. And, another’n. Nah. I did talk about where the bands were from and some light commentary but for the most part, I let the music do the talking.
What are some of your favorite punk rock Christmas songs? Or any Christmas songs? What did I leave out?
Do you have ideas for show topics? I’d really love to hear your ideas because eventually (any day now), I’m going to run out of things to talk about out of my feeble brain.
Also, you don’t have to be “local” to listen. We are an internet-based radio station and are licensed to broadcast anywhere in the US, Canada, and the UK. We broadcast out of the Omniverus Studios at Liberty Plaza.
Your next question may be: well, how do we listen? We have you covered on that. The Camel City Radio app is available on both the Apple Play and Google Play stores, so we are compatible with any iOS or Android device. Also, we now have our Alexa Skill. All you have to do is say, “Alexa, play Camel City” and Bob’s your uncle. You don’t even have to say “radio” (because she takes me to some weird Pandora channel). Just “Camel City.”
You can comment here, send an email or call 336-462-8660 and leave a voicemail. We will play your VM on the air (unless you tell us not to).
Listen to The BCPF’s Rose Garden of Doom on Saturday mornings at 10a-until. Eugene has The Non-Conformist Cult Radio Show on Friday Nights, 8p-midnight! I started a new Monday feature today called “New Tunes on Monday.” That will be on Mondays at 2p, but not this Monday since it’s NYE.
Until next time, same blog channel at some blog time…
“The urinater he’s throwing balls. Tommy Gunn he’s throwing balls. The leprechaun always throwing balls. Gummy Richard is throwing balls. Tommy Rat he’s throwing balls. Stevie B he’s throwing balls. All the kids are throwing balls. On the eight farm, I’m throwing balls. It’s Christmas time again.” – “Late Great Snowball Fight of 2006” (Herrera)
