This Sunday, Second Sundays on Fourth (SSO4) will kick off their 2017 season. You’ll find a few things different this time, though. Or, maybe you won’t. The hope is you won’t.
One thing that is hard to miss is that it’s not every second Sunday of the month from May to October. This year it will only be May and October. June, July, August and September are all hard months to predict and plan for. The reasons for that are vast but a few are that’s vacation time for many folks, the weather is sometimes sweltering, some people just want to spend time in their yards or riding around, etc. We could have come up with about 40 reasons why.
Another thing that is different this year is the actual management of the event. It is still the brainchild of the 4CM Group, which stands for 4th between Cherry and Marshall. I called this our “Little Block of Awesome” and it stuck. It is still overseen by this group (which I’m part of, obviously) but it’s produced and managed, now, by the new nonprofit that I’m on the board of, Winston-Salem Ambassadors. Check out the website to find out more about what the WSAmbassadors are all about. But, we are taking over making sure the bands are booked, the stage is set, the stage is managed, the sound is up, the production is done correctly. It’s still gonna be great and awesome. The bands this month will be Violet Bell and local faves Karon Click and the Hot Licks.
As of right now the forecast is 81° with only a 10% chance of rain. It’s also Mother’s Day so bring yo momma and let her have a good time, too. There will be food, fun and frolic. Check out the SSO4 website for more info.
Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
