Salutations™!!

The BCPF and I had a fantastic Saturday. We had lunch, records, record listening, dinner, binge watching. It was recharging. Underdog Records had some cool stuff that came in so we grabbed it. Here’s the haul:

©Warner Bros.

Various – French Women — You know by now that The BCPF and I are Francophiles. We love everything French. The country, the people, the food, the music, especially the music from the past. I don’t know much of the modern French pop music. New.

Prince – Prince — The self-titled second album from the Purple One. As with many of his early albums, Prince played all the instruments on this album and produced it. “I Wanna Be Your Lover” was the “hit” on this album. VG+.

The Police – Synchronicity — Yet another variant that I have collected. I have seven different copies of this album. Yeah, I’m a glutton for punishment. This is BRY (blue/red/yellow) Stewart/Andy/Sting Clock on Left. VG+.

Journey – Departure — This is the last album with Greg Rolie on keyboards. He handpicked his replacement, Jonathan Cain. It peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 and had the singles “Any Way You Want It” (#23), “Walks Like a Lady” (#32) and “Good Morning Girl/Stay Awhile (medley)” (#55). EX condition.

Ringo Starr – Sentimental Journey — This is the debut album from Ringo. It’s a collection of pre-rock ‘n’ roll standards that Starr recalled from his childhood in Liverpool. As a departure from the experimental quality that had characterized solo LPs by George Harrison and John Lennon since 1968, it was the first studio album by an individual Beatle to embrace a popular music form. VG+.

Nu Shooz – Poolside — I love “I Can’t Wait” but I can see why they never did anything beyond that song. The rest of the album is background noise at best. As The BCPF said, it would okay if it were just incidental music in a club or something, but not for listening with intent. EX.

The Alan Parsons Project – Tales Of Mystery And Imagination — This is the debut from Alan Parsons. This seems to be a reissue as it’s on the Casablanca Records imprint but listings have it on the 20th Century Fox label. From what I can tell, this is basically Alan Parsons bringing whole bands like Ambrosia and Pilot to come in and play his songs. Not, the whole album, but some of it. He has Arthur Brown (from The Crazy World of…) on a song, too. The album made it to #38 on the Billboard 200. EX.

The Alan Parsons Project – Ammonia Avenue — This is the seventh album from APP. It was a big hit for them. It is certified as gold and made it to #14 on the Billboard 200. EX.

Kevin Rowland & Dexys Midnight Runners – Too-Rye-Ay — I don’t know when they added Kevin Rowland as the featured artist on this but when the album came out it was just DMR. The hit (and the only song I’ve ever heard from them), “Come On Eileen” is on this album. The cover sleeve is fantastic but Jonathan has it rated at VG.

Ray Stevens – Ray Stevens’ Greatest Hits — I love me some Ray Stevens. It’s good comedy music. EX.

Pointer Sisters – Black & White — “Slow Hand” and “Should I Do It” were on this album. The sisters’ family, strictly religious folk, were appalled by their move into more secular music and this features “Slow Hand” and that was pretty salacious (for the time). I’m glad they made that move. EX.

Remember folks, if you go to Underdog Records, wear your damned masks. Jonathan had to tell two people in just the time we were there to put one on, including having to give someone a paper mask who took his time putting it on, made snide comments about not having to wear one since last November and when downstairs (out of sight), took it off. Another idiot came in and huffed and puffed when told he had to wear one and pulled it out and put it around his chin without even putting it on his face. Jonathan, who is not a confrontational person had to tell him to pull it up and STILL the guy left his nose uncovered. You can order records 24/7/365 by visiting UR website. I use Discogs to track my collection, including the seven different variants of Synchronicity. You should, too!

“Poor old Johnnie Ray. Sounded sad upon the radio, moved a million hearts in mono. Our mothers cried, sang along, who’d blame them? You’ve grown (You’re grown up!). So grown (So grown up!). Now I must say more than ever. (Come on Eileen) Too-ra-loo-ra, too-ra-loo-rye, ay. And we can sing just like our fathers.” – “Come On Eileen” (Rowland/Paterson/Adams)

Salutations™!!

Like the last few weeks, The BCPF had the day off on Friday and we went to Underdog Records a day early. We got some good stuff and I’m going to share that with you, now!

  • Michael Kiwanuka – Kiwanuka — I first heard pieces of this album when I was making the commercial for Underdog Records on The Less Desirables. I thought it was great. Jonathan kept getting copies and selling out before I could get there to get one. So, I had him order one for me specifically. Here it was, finally. And it was well worth the wait. Lots of good ambient blues, R&B, rock, all that in one. A great album that even The BCPF loved and was disappointed there wasn’t a download code in the sleeve. New.
  • The Smiths – Strangeways, Here We Come — Gotta love some miserable Brits, eh? “I Started Something I Couldn’t Finish,” “Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before,” “Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me” and one of my favorite Smiths tunes, “Girlfriend in a Coma” is on this album. VG++.
  • Elvis Costello & The Imposters – Look Now — A 2018 release from EC, it sounds like old EC and that is a good thing. He wrote most of the stuff himself but there were three songs co-written by Burt Bacharach and one co-written by Carole King. A really good listen. VG++.
  • Pink Floyd – Atom Heart Mother — Released a month and a half before I was (born), this is Pink Floyd’s fifth studio album and consists of mostly instrumentals (36:44 of the 52:06 total running time). I didn’t think I’d care for it as sometimes Floyd’s instrumental stuff idles on, but I did enjoy it. It is a good and relaxing atmospheric listen. VG+.
  • Faces – Ooh La La — This is the fourth and final studio album by Faces. By this time, Rod Stewart had already had a hit with “Maggie May” and his first few solo albums, and the singer had become increasingly distanced from some of his Faces bandmates, who were frustrated by the fact that by this point they had come to be perceived by the public (and even by some concert promoters) as little more than Stewart’s backing band for live work (according to Wikipedia). I had never heard the title track until the Amazon Echo commercials and when I found out who it was, I was like, yeah, that sounds like Rod Stewart. Turns out it was Ronnie Wood who sang it, co-writing it with Ronnie Lane, the bassist. The cover is cool, you can “squeeze” the top of the sleeve and the mouth and eyes move. VG+.
  • The Who – Magic Bus — Oh we crazy Americans in the 60s and 70s. This is a compilation album of previously released material and was not issued in the UK. They were capitalizing on the success of the song by the same name. The BCPF picked it up! VG+.
  • Ringo Starr – Beaucoups Of Blues — A most peculiar album, indeed. It’s not really that peculiar, but it’s certainly Ringo’s take on American country and western. It’s pure “tears in my beer.” Not bad for what it was, but… VG+.
  • Angel City – Face To Face — I had never heard of Angel City until Eugene had me review Two Minute Warning on his hard rock list. You can read my review here. In Australia, they were known as The Angels, but so they wouldn’t be confused with the band Angel (KISS’ rostermates on Casablanca Records), they changed to Angel City. This was their second overall release and the first for the US. It’s a decent listen, as we did so whilst cleaning/straightening our downstairs. Rock, punk, even metal at some points. VG+.
  • Queensrÿche – Promised Land — This wasn’t purchased at Underdog Records. I believe this came from Bobby the Drummer (from Heavens Sake) when he worked at CEMA (EMI) when we first met. He knew I was a Queensryche fan and gave it to me. I had either forgotten that I had it or where it was (or a combo of the two) and I found it located behind a filing cabinet that I have in my living room. You’d have to see it… but it was still sealed. So, I promptly opened it up and gave it a spin. Operation: Mindcrime will always be my favorite Queensryche album (second favorite overall of all time) and Empire will always be my second favorite ‘Ryche album. But, to me, this is their most underrated. It is just what I wanted to do musically at that time and I still love it. It’s still hard rock but has a more modern edge to it (at least in the mid=90s) and Geoff Tate was still singing and not talk-singing through songs. He hadn’t quite blown himself out at this point. The songs are well-written, still tell stories and still sounds like Queensryche. I love this album and will listen to it again, really soon. Have I mentioned that I love this album?

It’s Christmas time and that means gift certificates and Underdog Records has plenty of them, in any denomination you want. The cool thing is these come on old 45s/singles/7″ whatever you call them. And, Jonathan can still special order anything on vinyl that you need in time for your special vinyl lover (I can give you a list if you’re interested *wink*). Also, Underdog Records will be putting out freshly acquired used vinyl every single business day until Christmas. Also, also, there are plenty of used receivers, turntables, speakers and more in the store if you know someone who has said they’d love to start listening to records (perhaps again) but don’t know where to start. Jonathan can help you out. Listen to each new episode of The Less Desirables to hear the TLD/UR special of the week. I use Discogs to track my awesome record collection and to make sure I don’t double dip something I already have. The BCPF used it to “random grab” a record during our cleaning time yesterday. Much fun, indeed!

Until tomorrow, keep spinning!

Salutations™!!

Usually, I’d do a post about The Less Desirables Beer of the Week (brought to you by our “Official Beer Sponsor,” Bull’s Tavern), but today I’m going to talk about a KISS album. You know how I feel about me some KISS albums.

Dynasty_(album)_cover

So, 39 years ago today, KISS released what is probably one of the two most polarizing albums in their Katalog, Dynasty.

First, let me tell the story of how I obtained my first copy of the album. I was 8 years old when the album came out in May of 1979. I was very much burdened with the worst case of allergies that many people had seen when I was a child. I had to go through allergy testing (around 80 shots) three different times and that included the scrape tests on the back (at least two of those times). I had been there so many times and been marked by that red oil pencil so much that my doctor called me “chief” (referencing war paint on Native Americans). It was as painful as you’d think and yes, it sucked.

I had saved some money from my allowance, which at the time was about a quarter a week. Yeah, I thought it was perfect. But, we had gone to Welch a bit before and I had spent many of my quarters on something, I’m sure. I don’t remember what, but I know I needed a “loan” on my allowance to purchase the newest KISS record. We picked it up in Beckley when we went that morning as my appointment wasn’t until later in the day. As I was lying on the table, weeping but not full out crying (essentially, being a “good boy”) Ma Mère told me that if I got through the tests, I wouldn’t have to repay for the record, it would be her treat. I was crying on the inside but biting my bottom lip, I pushed through it.

Okay, well, Ma Mère had plans that evening at a friend’s house and I took the record there and I, along with my friend Anjel and a cousin of hers, proceeded to listen to it. The first tune was familiar to me, “I Was Made for Lovin’ You.” Yeah. Then, “2000 Man” came on and I was like, what is this Beach Boys crap? I had no idea that it was Rolling Stones until later. I wasn’t familiar with the Stones at all. I had heard of them but other than “It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll (But I Like It),” which my parents inexplicably had on 45, didn’t know any tunes. I didn’t like that.

But, the wispy sound around “Sure Know Something,” “Magic Touch” and two of Ace’s other tunes, “Hard Times” and “Save Your Love,” those really intrigued me. I loved that. I didn’t immediately put together that Gene, one of the two main guys in the band (yeah, that’s just me at the time, get off my back) only had two songs. I loved “Charisma” (still do!) and thought “X-Ray Eyes” was cool.

Now, a little on the album itself.

The times were a-changin’. Peter’s and Ace’s need for importance, along with their substance abuse, led to the solo albums in 1978. The whole music scene was in a turn at the time. Disco was hitting its peak and punk was just starting to make an aboveground impact. The four members all did their solo albums, each taking a different route in their own journey. Gene went singer-songwriter and experimental. Peter went old-school rock and roll and pop. Paul was pretty much his KISS-writing self, with what I think was more along the lines of the KISS sound than any of them. Ace just did his thing which was kind of KISS-like, too, but because he didn’t get as much writing credits on the current Katalog of KISS albums, it may or may not have been prevalent.

To many folks chagrin, Ace’s is my least favorite and Gene’s is my most favorite. That goes for my favoritism in the actual members, too. Again, to most people’s chagrin. But, yeah, Ace and Peter weren’t thrilled with their positions and Peter was the most unhappy. While he had little writing credit, he at least got vocals on all the previous albums. But, don’t discount Ace’s gripe, either.

Well, it was time to reconvene and record. Who did they get to produce it? Ringo Starr’s co-writing partner, Vini Poncia. By chance do you know who produced Peter’s solo album? Yep, you guessed it, Vini Poncia. I believe it was an appeasement to Peter. Plus, he knew the disco sound and that was the (perceived) state of the music biz at the time. But, surprise, Vini thought that Peter’s drumming was subpar. And, being the power duo they were, Gene and Paul, not only agreed but also agreed to have a session player come in and do the drums. Say, Ace… what was that cat’s (pun) name that you had playing drums on your solo album? Oh yeah, that guy that will go on to play for David Letterman and Paul Shaffer later, Anton Fig. Let’s get him in to play on this album. So, they tried to appease Peter and now here’s one of Ace’s “boys.” To Peter’s credit, other than being a pompous arse, he was dealing with injuries from a car accident at the time. But, still…

Peter does sing “Dirty Livin'” and it is the only song he played drums on, too. I didn’t notice the difference when I was a kid and was blinded, again, by the KISS mystique. I thought it was all Peter. I can tell the difference now, even though I think Anton did a good job “imitating” Peter.

Lots of other things were going on at this time, too. Gene had apparently gotten the acting bug after being in the beautifully terrible film KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park the year before (I still love that crappy movie). He was pursuing things but since KISS was still incognito with the makeup, it wasn’t until they unmasked in 1983 that he got to really pursue it. Also, he was bouncing from Cher to Diana Ross around this time. He wasn’t “all in.” In fact, he was barely in. Of the nine songs on the album, he didn’t play on four of them. As he would do with the follow-up albums, Unmasked (released 362 days later) and Music from “The Elder,” Ace played the bass on his three songs. Yes, he got three. Gene only two. And, Ace’s songs were better written. I think Ace had a point to make.

Paul, being the trouper that he is, was the one that held most of the band together. But, it was hard.  His tunes were the most solid and, I think, the best three on the entire album.

This album was the last one to chart for a while. Its biggest hit, “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” made it to #11 on the charts. The tour was huge and Peter played even though he didn’t do much in the band, but he didn’t play nice. He and Paul got into some argument on stage and Peter slowed the tempo to a near halt in the middle of a song. The tour also saw one song from each of the four solo albums played, but that only lasted a little bit as they dropped most of them. “New York Groove” was the only one that ultimately survived. This was the end of it all for Peter, though. He was gone after the tour. Whether he was fired or he quit, that depends on which interview you read by which member.

The costumes for this album were out of sight! Where they garish? Oh heck yeah. I loved it though. They had reached their costume pinnacle and there was nowhere else for that train to rail.

One thing I remember about the album, too, that added to its poppier sound was that unlike the earlier KISS albums, this wasn’t tuned down a half step. That half step makes the sound a little heavier. It just does. This album and Unmasked (also produced by Vini Poncia) were both at standard tuning. So, that’s my reasoning for the sound at least.

All-in-all, it wasn’t KISS’ finest hour, and they admitted that they listened to the wrong people at the wrong time. It was a trend they stuck with for the next two albums. However, I still love this album. Is it different? Yes, I realized that much later, though. I think Ace’s version of “2000 Man” is better than the Stones version and I grew to like it. Paul’s voice is fantastic in all three of his songs. I had the poster on my wall from 1979 until 1986 when I moved to WSNC. I did once trade this album for one of those Ronco records that had a KISS song on it. But, I eventually traded it back.

Most folks wouldn’t even consider this in their “top” anything KISS albums. I don’t know that it’s “top” but I do listen to this more than Dressed to Kill and Destroyer. I don’t think it’s better than Destroyer but I like it better than DTK. It could be what this album meant to me as a kid. It was the first “new release” KISS album I owned. By the time I was into or knew who KISS was, Alive II was out. I didn’t get solo albums until right before this and they weren’t new releases. Newest but not new. I was just really digging into my KISS journey and this was one of my first stops. I love this album and it holds a place in my heart. I have listened to the vinyl version of it twice whilst writing this post. Happy 39th, Dynasty.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Salutations™!!

It was a long Saturday and that’s a rarity for The BCPF and me. Because Willows Bistro opened back up, we didn’t eat until 7pm but, we had a lot of listening time from our haul from Underdog Records earlier in the day. This is what we got:

R-1014777-1250929298.jpeg

©Chess Records

  • George Harrison – All Things Must Pass – 3xLP box set. The BCPF has had a big tumultuous spell as of late and she’s seeing the daylight on the other side, so I made sure she got this, which she has been coveting for a while. It’s #433 on the RS List, which I think is a little low. New.
  • The Stooges – Fun House – #191 on the RS List. This is a new reissue and it is in 180g orange and black splatter vinyl.
  • Aretha Franklin – Lady Soul – #85 on the RS List. I have never been a huge fan of Aretha’s. I know, I know. I especially don’t like her later stuff and all that crazy vocal running she does that is back in fashion. But, this is early stuff and it’s really good. New.
  • Chuck Berry – The Great Twenty-Eight – #21 on the RS List. Yes, it’s a compilation. Yes, I skipped the compilations on the list when I was doing them. As I’ve had to explain, several times, I am a fan of compilations. I have many of them. But, for that list of the “greatest albums of all time,” I don’t consider them “albums.” Now, the pure definition of the word album is “a collection usually in book form of literary selections, musical compositions, or pictures.” But, for that list, I took album meaning a work of original releases that were carefully placed sequentially to tell a story or elicit an emotional response. To me, many compilations are nothing more than a record company’s take on what sells. I have no problem with that, but not on a greatest of all time list. No matter the reasoning. This is a VG copy.
  • Louis Armstrong – Plays W.C. Handy – VG+ remastered copy.
  • New Birth – Blind Baby – A while ago, I saw someone posting about five or six albums from this group. I came across one of their albums at Underdog and gave it a listen this past week. I liked it. I saw this on for $2 and I couldn’t pass it up. VG+.
  • The Zero Zero Seven Band – James Bond Thrillers!! – A VG copy of the Zero Zero Seven Band (get it? 007) doing a collection of James Bond scores. Partly the main themes and partly incidental scored music from the first three films.
  • Rosemary Clooney And Duke Ellington And His Orchestra – Blue Rose – VG+
  • New Edition – New Edition – VG+ from my early teens. A friend and I would sing “Cool It Now,” “Mr. Telephone Man,” “Lost in Love” and “Kinda Girls We Like,” repetitively. I had fun and The BCPF got to see me return to my childish side (again).
  • Grover – Grover Sings The Blues – Yes. Yes, this is Grover from Sesame Street. As I’ve said before I had several of these albums as a young child and I just want to hear them again. I don’t mind living in the past. I mean, all of this is from the past, right? VG.
  • Ringo Starr – Ringo’s Rotogravure – Ringo’s voice has a distinct sound; a tone. You know it’s him when he speaks or sings. This is rated at VG, but it’s actually in really good shape. The cover, one of the older cardboard style, is splitting a little at the bottom. I can’t really glue those back together. $1 bin find.
  • 38 Special – Tour De Force – I’ve been looking for the album with “If I’d Been the One” and this is it. Found it in the $1 bin. There’s a little damage on the cover, but the album is in decent shape, once I cleaned it. VG.
  • Various – The House At Pooh Corner And Now We Are Six – As you can tell, The BCPF and I are both suckers for children’s records. This is not to be confused with the song by Loggins and Messina. It’s a $1 bin find and is VG.
  • The Doowackadoodlers – More Wacky Doodlin’s – I don’t really know what this is, but it was $1 and the cover seemed funny. I cleaned it up and it is around VG quality. I may give it a spin later today before the games.
  • John Klemmer – Brazilia – Another thing we like is music from other countries. This is (obviously) Brazilian. It was $1 and is VG.

There were two other albums we got, one brand new and one a German version of Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Orchestra but because The BCPF has a knack for getting/wanting albums that aren’t in Discogs, I can’t list them here. It is a long, drawn-out process when you have to submit them yourself. Perhaps I’ll do a few of the half dozen or so that isn’t in there during the games today? Also, Jonathan gave me a crateful of records that are either partially or very warped. I want to experiment with them and see if I can reshape them. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos about it and I want to try a few methods. It will involve the oven, which I know is a scary thought, but we’ll see. If they’re useless anyway, why not?

I have to watch the Underdog Records social media pages because Jonathan will post all throughout the day when he gets fresh used records in. My friends on the private Facebook page all clamor over the same genres and have similar wants. It’s fun. It’s like when I used to collect baseball and football cards. I wanted to buy to see if I got something my friends didn’t. It’s friendly. The point is, you should watch their social media to see what is “just in.”

There was a guy that had been coming in for a bit, even purchasing a few albums here and there. All the while, he’s not even had a turntable. He just wanted to collect. This week, Jonathan finally sold him a turntable because he has several for sale. Some of it is entry level (which makes sense if you’re just dabbling) and some of it is higher quality. Sometimes he’ll get some high-dollar stuff but mostly it’s entry and moderate level. But, he tests it and makes sure it’s good before he posts it. Sometimes there are A/V receivers and speakers for sale, too. Keep checking back.

And you can tell that I use Discogs to do my archiving. I purchased a record that I’ve been searching for from their marketplace last night. Stay tuned to see which one. Discogs is great to keep track of what you have and what your friends have. Delightful!

Until tomorrow, keep collecting and keep spinning…

Salutations™!!

Today is December 8, 2017. It was December 8, 1980, when the world lost one of its most celebrated and controversial celebrities and brilliant minds. I’ve talked about this before but when this happened, I was 10. I had just gotten into some hard rock music, namely KISS a few years earlier and The Beatles and its various members were “old folk music,” to me; stuff my parents listened to. Well, at least Ma Mère.

John-Lennon-006

©The Guardian

I remember watching Monday Night Football and Howard Cosell coming on to tell the world that John Lennon had died. Shot twice in the back (according to Cosell) and rushed to the hospital where he was DOA. Now, a little bit later, Ted Koppel said on Nightline that he had been shot three times and died after arriving at the hospital. Most of the supported reports, now, state that he was shot at five times, hit four and was pretty much gone, pronounced DOA, upon getting to the hospital. It was surreal, to be sure, but it was also probably the first time I ever felt remorse.

For whatever reason, Ma Mère wasn’t home when we heard the news. She came home and I said in a mocking manner that someone of her “old music” had been murdered. I don’t know why I felt proud of that, but upon reflection of it, I felt really stupid and sad that I had said it and that I had felt the need to do so. That’s awful and I’ve never forgotten or let myself off the hook for it. I have since, obviously, discovered the genius that Lennon was, what he meant to the music world, what he meant to my musical heroes and what a loss it was.

So, 37 years later, people are still talking about him, much of his compositions are still relevant and still hold up in today’s musical realms. My favorite Beatle has always been and will always be Paul who was the heart, but John was the mind (George the soul, Ringo the body). RIP, Mr. Lennon.

So, on to happier things, if we don’t get snowed out, I’ll be playing with the Silver Alerts in Greensboro tonight. We’re playing the Crown of Carolina Theatre. The show starts at 7pm with Joshua West. Then, at 8ish, Doug Davis’ new band Gasket Hawkins goes on and then Doug joins Clay, Chad Huskey, Corky McClellan and me as a Silver Alert. I don’t know the cost of admission but we hope to see you there.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

“Yes, we have to say it. Remember this is just a football game, no matter who wins or loses. An unspeakable tragedy confirmed to us by ABC News in New York City: John Lennon, outside of his apartment building on the West Side of New York City, the most famous perhaps, of all of the Beatles, shot twice in the back, rushed to Roosevelt Hospital, dead on arrival. Hard to go back to the game after that news flash, which, in duty bound, we have to take.” – Howard Cosell

Silent Sunday or: The Haul 9/9/17

Salutations™!!

The BCPF’s and my trip to Underdog Records was a bit of a lighter load than normal, yesterday. That’s okay. It helps with the pocket book. I will include two albums on this that we got previously but not on Discogs because I had to enter them myself; they’re after the line. That’s a long and arduous process. All the credits need to be included individually in each song, person, etc. Again, long. For one album alone it took me almost an hour to do. Anywhat! Here’s the haul:

  • The Church – Starfish (great album even beyond the two singles, new)
  • Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark – The Punishment Of Luxury (brand new music from this band and it’s good stuff, new)
  • Neil Young – Hitchhiker (previously unreleased album from 1976, new)
  • Iggy And The Stooges – Raw Power (2xLP set with the original mix by David Bowie and a remastered mix by Iggy Pop, barely used, NM+)
  • Ringo Starr – Ringo
  • Various – Casino Lights
  • Jim Stafford – Jim Stafford (somewhere there is a cassette of me, at about 4 years old, singing “Spiders and Snakes”)
  • Stars On / Long Tall Ernie And The Shakers – Stars On Long Play
  • Ohio Players – Honey
  • Rod Stewart – Every Beat Of My Heart
  • Art Garfunkel – Watermark
  • Jo Basile, His Accordion And Orchestra – Accordion De Paris (again, our love of Parisienne music)
  • J. Haydn, Karl Ristenpart Conducting The Chamber Orchestra Of The Sarre – Symphony No. 6 “Morning” / Symphony No. 7 “Noon” / Symphony No. 8 “Evening”

  • Willi Boskovsky, Vienna Philharmusica Symphony Orchestra – A Thousand And One Nights & Other Viennese Favorites (I got this about six months ago, it wasn’t on Discogs and thought it would take longer to put in, took about 15 minutes)

  • Joan Osborne – Songs Of Bob Dylan (this one took about an hour to put in, not necessarily a lot of credits as much as the listing was wacky)

So, a shorter list this week and that’s okay. If you want to get back into vinyl after a long hiatus or are looking to see what all the buzz about vinyl is, then head over to Underdog Records and talk to Jonathan. He can direct you. The new and used vinyl are all competitively priced and you’ll find deals every day. Listen to The Less Desirables each week to hear what that week’s Underdog/TLD special is. And when you start buying again, archive it all on Discogs and show pride in your collection.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
