Rain, Sears

Salutations™!!

I will admit that I don’t mind rainy days. I don’t mind hazy, lazy foggy days. I mean, of course, I love the sunny days, partly cloudy days, overcast days, I just love days. But, jeez o’Pete! I am so over the day-after-day-after-day of this stupid rain. We are getting more than we even need, at least more at a time.

ark

The Ark Experience in KY

My phone is blowing up with “flash flood” and “severe thunderstorm” alerts.

My “backyard” looks like I just got a mail order stream installed from the old Sears catalog (you older folk know what that is). I’m wondering if I could have gotten an ark from that catalog?

If I ever thought I’d be able to get permits and zoning for it, I would consider building my own. I’d have to download the cubits to feet calculator. Speaking of which… what is a cubit, anyway? I guess we can go see it in Kentucky (there is one there).

I don’t know, Dear Reader, anytime the wind blows hard right now, I feel I’m going to have a tree in my house. The ground is so saturated that the roots are having trouble holding. It’s just awful. I really don’t know if it’s rainfall of the biblical proportion, but it’s a lot of danged rain. I’m ready for it to be done. DONE!

Oh, by the way, a cubit is equal to 1.5 feet.

Until tomorrow, stay dry…

Life, Life as It is, Music, Peter Gabriel, Rain, So

Salutations™!!

I am so over the wet, rainy weather conditions. I think we missed spring, at least the sunny spring because now if the sun is out, it’s hotter than seven hades and we’re still in the middle of May. But, the rain is so annoying. I can’t ride with my windows or sunroof open. I can’t sit in the yard. I can’t do much of anything. I hate being wet and I hate running to my car to avoid becoming so. Meh, I say.

Anyone else already done with the rain? Does anyone actually enjoy it? I’m sure there are some. I mean, I don’t mind rain but let it do its business and then leave. I believe it’s appropriate that tomorrow is the anniversary of Peter Gabriel’s So (my favorite album of all time), if for no other reason than the opening tune is about rain (at least in title). Here’s the video since the rain makes me not want to do a lot of writing.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Salutations™!!

It has been a dreary, rainy, cold and crappy day all day long here in good ol’ WSNC. It’s

Sonny Davis (r) and son, Spencer

almost May, which should mean much warmer temperatures, at least we would think so. I went to work in shorts and a t-shirt today. I figured, well, okay, it will get warmer as the day goes on. That is not and was not the case. It stayed wet and cold all day. I recorded Fan Interference with TC at home, via Skype, and just watched the rain pour onto the street.

I saw someone laying on the ground first thing this morning, with a broken leg, waiting for ambulances, firetrucks and paramedics all rushing to help them. Luckily, the rain hadn’t come back just yet. The patient lay on the ground after a huge box of something had fallen off the truck of the delivery company he worked for and snapped his leg. I didn’t see it happen just the “waiting.” That added to my dreary day.

Then, I found out that Sonny Davis, who along with his son, Spencer, own City Beverage, passed away on Friday. He was 81. He had worked on Thursday and died at his home. As I said on The Man Who Ate the Town Podcast recording earlier today, if you didn’t know Sonny, you’d think that he was just grumpy or rude. After you’d had a chance to talk with him, and he got to laugh a little or smile, then you realized he wasn’t that way, he was just quiet and he was just, well, Sonny. I feel bad for Spencer and his family. I’m sending out good thoughts and positive vibes to them all. I’m sure they could use them.

I hope you all stay dry, warm and cozy in this “spring” weather.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Salutations™!!

I’m looking at the weather forecast, or should I say forecasts, and notice that they’re not all on the same page. Because I’m looking forward to what the weather is for tomorrow, I looked to see what the local NBC, CBS and Fox stations said the weather was predicted to be. I’m not liking it. Even if they’re not on the same page, none of it looks good. It looks like there will be scattered thunderstorms all over the place tomorrow from about 9pm tonight on through. In fact, the whole week has some sort of chance of rain. But, why am I annoyed by this?

Well, it’s two things. I’ve gotten used to doing my Saturday walks and I was thinking that I may attempt some filming to get the web series going on The Man Who Walked the Town. We

haven’t chosen the neighborhood yet, but I’m sure it’s someplace that I’ve already been so we can use it as practice. I hate being wet, so, if it’s raining, I’m probably not going to go out in it, willingly. The GoPro (thank you Omega Sports) is in a waterproof case, so I’m not worried about that, but I don’t like being wet; I worry about that!

The other thing that I hope it doesn’t rain for is the second of the Vagabond Saints Society’s Best of Talking Heads summer tour. It will be at RayLen Vineyards in Mocksville/Advance/Bermuda Run (it sits right on a bit of the Bermuda Run Triangle) and it’s outside. There’s a shed but, really, if it’s raining who’s going to go to that? I don’t know that anyone will. I don’t know that I want to if it’s raining. Especially with thunderstorms. If it were just rain, maybe. I don’t know. So, if it’s not raining, come on out to RayLen, it’s their “Full Moon Festival” that day. You can find directions by visiting their website HERE.

So, again, here’s hoping that the weather goes along with my plans. If not, then we’ll find something else to do, but I hope it doesn’t come to that. I was looking forward to the second accomplishing of my “10k by 10a” and starting the filming process. So, rain, rain go away! Far away!

Until tomorrow (and hoping for a dry-ish one), same blog channel…
