Salutations™!!

We had NO agenda yesterday. The BCPF and I got up, showered, spent time with Jonathan at Underdog Records, had a fantastic breakfast at Young Cardinal Cafe, listened to records, dinner at Davie Tavern and started re-watching one of our favorite Brit Coms, ever. It was a glorious Saturday. Here’s the haul:

©Sire/Reprise

Wilco – A.M. — This is the debut album from the band from 1995. There was competition between former Uncle Tupelo members Jeff Tweedy and Jay Farrar. Tweedy started Wilco and Farrar started Son Volt. Son Volt’s debut did much better, but I think in the long run, Wilco is more memorable. I am not a fan of either band, really, but I’d go with Wilco over the two. I haven’t listened to this, yet. 2×LP, Deluxe Edition, Reissue, Remastered. Deluxe Edition including the original album plus 8 previously unissued outtakes. 2-LP set pressed on 180 gram black vinyl. Gatefold jacket and includes printed inner sleeves with photos, liner notes and credits. New.

U2 – Zooropa — The record was a continuation of the group’s experimentation with alternative rock, electronic dance music, and electronic sound effects that began with their previous album, Achtung Baby, in 1991. I don’t know that I’m a fan of it, but I haven’t listened to it in about 10 years. It’s time to revisit it. 2×LP, Reissue, Remastered, 180 gr. Includes Lemon (The Perfecto Mix), the
B-side to “Lemon”, and Numb (Gimme Some More Dignity Mix) from the “Melon” CD for Propaganda. New.

Pavement – The Secret History, Volume 1 (1990-1992) — From the hype sticker (that isn’t on here): First in a series of Pavement rarities: 25 tracks available on vinyl for the very first time! All the B-sides, unreleased session tracks, John Peel Sessions, and a 1992 live concert from the Slanted & Enchanted era, 1990-1992. 30 tracks total. Packaged in a gatefold sleeve. Each LP comes in a custom inner sleeve. 2×LP, Compilation. NM.

The Soft Pack – Strapped — The Soft Pack is an indie rock band from San Diego. I had never heard of them but the packaging looked cool and every once in a while I get in the mood for something new. This was the latest of those. We listened to it. It is some The BCPF kind of music. So, I did good. It was “used” but still sealed. We opened it right up. Limited Edition, Numbered #351 out of 2000.

Various – Good Morning, Vietnam – The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack — I loved the film and had this soundtrack on cassette when it came out, then on CD and now on LP. VG.

Daryl Hall & John Oates With David Ruffin & Eddie Kendrick – Live At The Apollo — Eddie Kendrick and David Ruffin were from The Temptations. This is a mixture of their classics and some then-current songs by Hall & Oates. VG+.

Various – The Hollywood Knights – The Original Soundtrack Album — Issued with a die-cut gatefold sleeve, with a peel-off
license plate sticker to cover the butt crack underneath. I liked the film, although I haven’t seen it in a hot minute. VG.

1970s Film Stock – Third Anthem — My friend Eddie Garcia’s one-man act released an album on vinyl and it’s not in Discogs yet. I haven’t heard it yet, but I made sure to pick it up! New.

Jonathan was hyped because his Atlanta Braves (the MLB team I hate the most) are in the NLCS. People were doing their mask thing without arguing, at least when we were there. Watch the Underdog Records social media (especially Instagram) to see what Jonathan had gotten in and is putting out for purchase. You can shop and order new vinyl day or night 24/7/365 on the Underdog Records website. And, use Discogs to track your collection or shop for hard-to-find records. You can even track your CD collection on there.

Until tomorrow, keep spinnin’…

Salutations™!!

Today is the 29th anniversary of Pavement’s Slanted and Enchanted album. We have this on vinyl (of course we do) and The BCPF about fell in the floor when I told her it was 29 years old. #135 on the RS list that matters, #199 on the one that doesn’t. This is a good cover. Enjoy!

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Salutations™!!

A good but long week for The BCPF and me led to a good weekend, including a fantastic trip to Underdog Records. I don’t have a lot to say about it other than, here’s the haul:

©Sub Pop

The first two are of the TimeLife – The Story of Great Music collections that I ordered from Discogs and told you about a week ago.

Various – The Opulent Era — Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Wagner, and one of my favorites, Camille Saint-Saëns, and more line this 4xLP collection. NM.

Various – The Music Of Today — Shostakovich, Sir William Walton, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Aaron Copland. NM.

The rest is yesterday’s haul:

Prince – Dirty Mind — #206 on the RS List, this is Prince’s third album and the first one to really get him any recognition. Looking at other albums out in 1980, this cover had to have gotten some desperate housewives hot and flustered. He’s in his leather banana hammock and trench coat and not much else. New.

Marilyn Manson – We Are Chaos — The new Manson album, this is a solid listen front to back. It’s a little odd for the usual Manson fare, but there’s enough of it in there that you know it’s him. I liked it. New.

Violent Femmes – Violent Femmes — The debut album from the folk punk heroes. a lot of popular tunes from this album: “Blister in the Sun,” “Kiss Off,” “Add It Up,” “Gone Daddy Gone” and more. New.

Hootie & The Blowfish – Cracked Rear View — This album, like the band Nickelback and heck, Hootie, too, is chided and I can’t really tell why. The snooty know-it-alls will say because it’s this reason or that reason or whatever and it “sucks.” Well, it was the best selling album of 1995 and is the 19th best selling album of all time. I mean, 21 million copies sold, it couldn’t have sucked that bad. That just means that those same know-it-alls are just blowhards who just want to hear themselves talk (or type). Now, that being said, if you just don’t like it, I can live with that. I think it was just overplayed, but if you’re the artist, isn’t that what you want? I’d give a lot to have a “hit” that was played so much it was considered “overplayed.” I’m indifferent about it one way or the other, I just wanted it in my collection. New.

Marilyn Manson – The Pale Emperor — Manson’s ninth album. I don’t really know much about this one, but it did have three singles: “Third Day of a Seven Day Binge,” “Deep Six,” “Cupid Carries a Gun.” 2xLP. New.

The Head And The Heart – Let’s Be Still — I know nothing about this band. Have never even heard of them. But, it’s indie folk rock. Who do we know that is a fan of that genre? That’s right! And, she is the one who picked this up. 2xLP. New.

Pavement – Crooked Rain Crooked Rain — Straight up indie rock that sits at #212 on the RS list. This is Pavement’s second album, their debut, Slanted and Enchanted is also on that list. The debut was a bit lo-fi where this is more accessible, straight-ahead indie rock. I liked it. New.

Superchunk – Foolish — We bought the acoustic version last year and I have to say I enjoyed that one better. Mac McCaughan’s voice rakes on me sometimes. Overall I like the band, I’ve seen them twice in concert, but this is a bit much. New.

Nirvana – Bleach — When this album came out, I was in a spot where my preferred music was in danger of being dethroned and I was anti- that. I talked badly about Nirvana (and Grunge in general), Cobain, the music, the fans, everything. I thought it sucked. I thought it was awful. I thought it was scourge of the Earth. I said bad things that I regret about Kurt Cobain. Over time, though, I came to respect all that Nirvana was. Nevermind, which was my bane when it arrived, has come to be a great album in my eyes. I had never heard this album (which was their debut) and this thing rocks!!!! I was dumb. I was an idiot. I was blind but now I see. Man, this is even better than Nevermind in my opinion. I loved it. New.

Interpol – Turn On The Bright Lights — I have never heard anything from Interpol that I know of. I asked Jonathan about it and he said they were just a straight rock band with a bit of a darker side. I said, okay. NM.

Joe Jackson – Joe Jackson’s Jumpin’ Jive — 1981 album from Jackson of a lot of swing and jump blues tunes. I like Joe Jackson. I like jump blues and swing. VG+.

Mussorgsky — The Philadelphia Orchestra, Eugene Ormandy – Pictures At An Exhibition – Night On Bald Mountain — VG+.

We started the music section back on this week’s episode of The Less Desirables which is sponsored by Underdog Records. Don’t forget to register to get in on the lottery for RSD Drop 2 coming September 26. Use Discogs to track your collection and buy albums to add to it.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Salutations™!!

I am so longing for the opportunity to get back into Underdog Records and rummage through the used albums, some new albums and just to see Jonathan again. This is getting rougher as the time slips away. We’ve eaten well, though.

This week was a lot shorter in both the headphone/streaming listening and the actual record listening. The BCPF and I only got four albums in yesterday. I would say that we were busy but, other than cutting my hair, grabbing lunch and dinner, we didn’t do much of anything. We always listen from as early as we can to dinner time. Then we catch up on binge-watching, which right now is Roseanne. And, I was in the studio twice this week and was on some video conferences, so my headphone listening was lighter, too. Anywhat! Here’s the “headphone listen” list:

  • Don Henley – The End Of The Innocence
  • Breathe  – All That Jazz
  • Styx – Man Of Miracles
  • Electric Light Orchestra – Out Of The Blue
  • The Smiths – Hatful Of Hollow
  • Alice Cooper – Killer
  • Peter Gabriel – Security
  • Queen – A Day At The Races
  • John Lennon – Mind Games
  • Daryl Hall & John Oates – Along The Red Ledge
  • Rush – Grace Under Pressure
  • Billy Joel – Greatest Hits Volume I & Volume II
  • Heart – Magazine
  • Dire Straits – Dire Straits

collage50320

That was it for my private listening. Again, to explain what the “private listening” is, I use Discogs to pick an album that I already have on vinyl. That way, I am listening to what I have but not bothering The BCPF in the process, as she tries to work. So, I’m listening to my collection, just under headphones. Now to the record listening, what there is of a list, anyway:

  • Pavement – Brighten The Corners
  • Various – Hot Tracks (was the K-Tel compilation that brought me out of “Kissdom”)
  • Portastatic – The Summer Of The Shark
  • The Cure – Disintegration (was its 31st anniversary)

collage150320

There you have it. My/our slim listening lists for the week. Hopefully, this week I get more listening time. Or… hopefully, this week we can get some money coming in! That would be even better.

Underdog is still doing deliveries all over the Triad. He started just in WSNC and has moved to the outlying areas and, to me, is overworking himself. But, he’s a dedicated record store owner. Possibly the most dedicated there is. And, he’s the sweetest dude, too. You really should check out the Instagram (especially) and Facebook pages of Underdog Records. You can order new stuff, anytime, day or night, on the Underdog Records website. He can deliver to your house or ship it to you, unlimited LPs for $4. Get you some rekkids! And, obviously, I use Discogs to track my collection.

Until tomorrow, keep spinnin’…

Today is the 28th anniversary of Pavement’s Slanted and Enchanted album. It’s #135  on the RS list. I guess I liked it. I don’t know. This is Stephen Malkmus doing the opening track/single. He’s the one who wrote all the songs on the album. The language is a little salty, just warning you. Enjoy!

Salutations™!!

I love my wife. I really do. I also love how into her music she is. But, man… she listens to some really crappy stuff. So, this one is for her. Today is Pavement’s Wowee Zowee‘s 25th anniversary. I don’t mind the studio stuff, well as much, but live these guys suck. I tried to find a cover to play instead but that sucked even more. I guess a picture of poop is still poop in a picture. So, a cover band doing crap is still crap. Oh well, enjoy!

Salutations™!!

Yesterday, The BCPF and I got to go to Underdog Records for the first time in around three weeks. We made up for it by getting a lot of records and listening to a lot of records before we went to have dinner with friends. Jonathan is ramping up for Record Store Day Black Friday so go to the RSD website to find what you’re looking for. Here’s our haul:

  • Kiss – Destroyer (Resurrected) — Yes, KISS is my favorite band and no this is not my favorite album by them, as you’d know if you read through my two-part ranking a few months back. This was the Bob Ezrin remix from 2012 and I like some aspects of it and don’t like others. The addition of the extra vocals in “Detroit Rock City” gets on my nerves. I always thought that was a cheesy addition on the Double Platinum version and it is here, too. It doesn’t need it. I like hearing Ace’s solo on “Sweet Pain” over the one that Dick Wagner did on the original. Do I like it better? Nah, but it’s nice to hear it. New.
  • The Cure – Seventeen Seconds — This was the second album from The Cure and Robert Smith wrote these things (and recorded them) when he was just 21 and he sounds so young. It’s a great album and fun to listen to. New.
  • Nine Inch Nails – Pretty Hate Machine — The debut album from Trent Reznor and friends and a direct descendant of the previous album, at least by influence. “Head Like a Hole” was the only thing I had heard from this but the whole album is amazing. It’s hard and coarse yet hauntingly beautiful at the same time. Angst is riddled throughout but I also feel it is a little tongue-in-cheek. I could be wrong. New.
  • The Replacements – Let It Be — #241 on the RS list, it ranks higher than the Beatles album of the same title. When I wrote my first review about this whilst doing the countdown, I was pretty hard on it. Listening back with fresher (and dare I say more mature) ears, I liked it a whole lot better yesterday than I did in September of 2015. That’s four years difference. Wow. A loose cover of KISS’ “Black Diamond” and all, this was fantastic. New.
  • Superchunk – AF (Acoustic Foolish) — Mac McCaughn released Foolish in 1994 and this is the acoustic re-recording of it from, I guess, 2019. The BCPF has always loved Superchunk and we’ve seen them live twice. She really enjoyed this and she doesn’t have the original at all. So, yay us! New.
  • Pavement – Live Europaturnén MCMXCVII — Yep, a live album from Pavement from 1997, although it wasn’t officially released until 2008. I haven’t heard it yet, but I know The BCPF likes Pavement, so that’s why we got it. NM.
  • Ex Hex – Rips — A band consisting of Mary Timony from Sleater-Kinney. The BCPF saw it was on Merge records and had to have it. So, here it is. NM.
  • Marlene Dietrich – Marlene Dietrich’s Berlin (Her Nostalgic Songs About The Grand Old City) — I have enjoyed the other Marlene Dietrich albums we had so I’m sure I’ll enjoy this one, too. VG+.
  • Parliament – GloryHallaStoopid (Pin The Tale On The Funky) — The penultimate album for Parliament on the Casablanca Records label, and is another concept album which tries to explain that Funk was responsible for the creation of the universe. Great artwork. VG-.
  • Joe Cooley – Cooley — Irish accordion drinking music. VG+.

It was so good getting back to Underdog Records. So much enjoyment. This week, Underdog Records will have a Halloween party on Wednesday from 7-9 with Segreto (aka DJ Eighty Four) playing a bunch of darkwave and mood-appropriate tunes with live painting by Dane Walters. There will be free refreshments but folks may also BYOB. Listen to each new episode of The Less Desirables to hear the TLD/UR special of the week. Use Discogs to keep track of your music collection.

Until tomorrow, keep spinning…

Salutations™!!

At Underdog Records yesterday, I was able to finally, once and for all, tackle a certain Beatles problem that I have had over the last few years. You’ll find out about it in this haul:

BruceWillis_-_ReturnOfBruno

©Motown

  • The Beatles – Rubber Soul — So, I have been burned (by my own self) over and over finding this on vinyl. Either it’s just a really sucky copy (usually with tape around the sleeve to keep it from falling apart and really scratchy vinyl) or I find a really good copy and it turns out to be the American version. And, to be honest, I hate the American versions of Beatles albums. Mainly, it’s just not what I’m used to. I have the entire Beatles catalog on CD in a box set and that’s the UK versions, to me, the real versions. So, I bought it brand new to finally kill the frustration. Now, the caveat here is that this is in mono. I don’t know how I feel about that, yet. I know the general consensus of folks when comparing the two, agree that the mono versions are probably more in tune with what they were trying to do. I will reserve judgment on that until I listen. All that being said, I finally have finished the Top 10 of the RS list as this sits at #5. Now, I only have 4 more to before the Top 25 is finished. I am sitting at 199 of the 500 on vinyl, right now.
  • The Clientele – Suburban Light — The BCPF loved the other album by The Clientele so she wanted to give this one a try. Sure enough, she loved it, too. I dug it also. New.
  • Coldplay – X&Y — Not my favorite Coldplay album (we know that’s Parachutes) but this 2xLP was there in “like new” condition for about half the cost so I couldn’t pass it up. This is where they started to lose me but I find that when I revisit, usually I can change my mind. We’ll see. NM+.
  • Pavement – Wowee Zowee — It’s weird that Pavement is a The BCPF band. It seems, all at once, to be totally against everything you’d think she’d like and totally everything she likes in one package. I don’t know how I feel about them, and there is another Pavement album we have to get because of the RS list, but this wasn’t on it. VG+.
  • The Autumn Defense – The Green Hour — Another that The BCPF really wanted. This was a past “Record Store Day” selection and one of only 500 pressed in the world, so it’s rare. We couldn’t pass it up. VG++.
  • Emmylou Harris – Blue Kentucky Girl — Not my favorite from Ms. Harris. I did get a little nostalgia because it reminded me of Ma Père listening to his records, even though he didn’t do that a lot. He didn’t play Emmylou but definitely this style. But, The BCPF wanted it and well, she gets what she wants (when I can help it). VG+.
  • Supertramp – Paris — A 2xLP live album from Supertramp’s Breakfast in America tour with minimal overdubs – or so they say. I hate they left off “Give a Little Bit” and “Goodbye Stranger” but it seems like the rest of the set is pretty sound. The reason for “Give a Little Bit” was that all the versions over several shows were awful. It was re-released in the CD/DVD anniversary edition of Breakfast… This was in VG+ condition.
  • Randy Newman – Good Old Boys — #394 on the RS list. This means that I have all of the RS entries for Randy Newman. I like him a lot. I always thought of him as a novelty act because a lot of his stuff is novelty-type songs, at least what I had always heard. But, he really digs in. I couldn’t get over the audacity of the song “Rednecks” but realized pretty quickly that it was not sensationalizing racism but actually mocking it. Still… even Newman felt weird performing it. VG+.
  • Bruce Willis – The Return Of Bruno — Yes, Bruce Willis, who I think has a decent voice and can play a mean harmonica. As I stated on social media with several people agreeing with me, it’s not a great album, it’s not a classic, it’s not a masterpiece. But, it is a decent album and it’s very entertaining. I know I had it on cassette when it came out, following the “mockumentary” that it accompanied, I may have it on CD, but I’m not certain. But, I enjoyed it and saw it and couldn’t pass it up.
  • INXS – INXS — INXS’ debut album and it’s not at all what I expected. It’s very new wavey and poppy and I loved it. At times Michael Hutchence’s voiced sounded like Tim Curry, but I also dig Tim Curry, so that’s great. It was more synth-driven and I had never heard any of the songs, that I knew of. It was a record company promo with a sticker on the front cover with checkboxes for “recommended selections.” Nothing had been checked. I found this in the $1 bin, but I’d still rate it around VG+ because it was in really good condition.
  • Eddie Cantor, Bert Williams, Van And Schenck, John Steel, Irving Berlin – Ziegfeld Follies Of 1919 —  A very entertaining recording (and accompanying booklet) of the famous Ziegfeld Follies vaudeville-like theatrical revue put on by Florenz Ziegfeld. And, did you know that Ziegfeld was married to Billie Burke? That’s right, he was married to Glinda, the Good Witch. This was a really great listen and it was a $1 bin find. VG/VG+.
  • The Melachrino Orchestra – Paris, The Sounds, The Sights — Another $1 bin find in which there is an accompanying booklet. This is about our beloved city of Paris and includes a guide to the sights and attractions of the City of Light, from 1956. We can’t wait to listen. VG.
  • Franz Schubert, Karl Böhm, Berliner Philharmoniker – Symphonies — A 5xLP collection of Schubert symphonies including Symphonie Nrs. 1-6, 8, 9 and “Rosamunde” which was written for the play Rosamunde, Fürstin von Zypern, by Helmina von Chézy. It was a $1 bin find but I believe the vinyl is VG+.

A decent haul this week, I think. Jonathan had just returned from a short sabbatical to Atlanta with his dad and he seemed a bit more recharged. A happy Jonathan means a happy Underdog Records. Speaking of Underdog and Atlanta… even though I hate the Atlanta Braves, it’s Jonathan’s favorite team. When the Braves complete a sweep of a series (which hasn’t happened a lot this year), there’s a “sweep sale” at Underdog Records. That can mean a variety of things so I recommend you watch their social media to see what that may be. Plus, the social media platforms is the best place to keep track of new arrivals to the store. Be the first to know and try to “Beat Beeman.” That is apparently a thing. Also, listen to The Less Desirables each week to hear the TLD/UDR special of the week.

And, when I’m there since my collection has grown, I can always cross-reference my collection to make sure I’m not doubling up on anything by using Discogs. I keep better track of my collection, my purchases and as was the case this week, let others track my collection to see if there’s anything to trade. Now, for the record, I don’t get rid of much but if it’s something I absolutely need, I may consider it.

Until tomorrow, keep spinning…

First off, I want to say “happy father’s day” to all the dads out there, whether they’re dads, step-dads, furry kids’ dads, father figures, all of you. My life would be nothing like it is without my own Ma Père and I’ll get to see him in a few hours. He made me the man I am today, even if it took a while for me to catch on. I say that with complete love because I love hippies, heck I married one. Back home to hear some of our spoils and then to Willows Bistro. Here’s our very short, but rewarding haul!

  • Pavement – Slanted And Enchanted – #135 on the RS list, which boggles my mind. I’m not saying it’s not deserving of the list but jeez o’pete, this can’t be that high on the list. It could be back in the 300s or something but 135? Nah. It’s The BCPF’s favorite Pavement album which contains her favorite Pavement song, “Summer Babe (Winter Version).” New.
  • Iggy Pop – TV Eye 1977 Live – It’s Iggy, a New Wave/punk icon, and The BCPF loves that stuff, so she wanted this and who am I to say no? VG+.
  • Pink Floyd – Ummagumma – A really rough version of this 2xLP but it’s still a good listen. I really enjoy record 2 best with all the members doing their own compositions. I mean who doesn’t like “Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict?” The album is graded as VG-. I think that’s generous, but that’s what I’ll go with.
  • Jethro Tull – War Child – “Bungle in the Jungle” is on this one. I don’t completely get Jethro Tull but I am not against it, either, so I figured why not? VG++.
  • Graham Parker And The Rumour – Squeezing Out Sparks – #334 on the RS list. Why not just switch the two we got this haul and I’d be okay with that. This should have been 135 and the Pavement album 334. I’m just sayin’. But, this was a great record, I enjoyed all of it! It was a $1 bin find but I think that was because the cover was a bit chewed up. The vinyl was VG/VG+, not a skip nor crackle.

That was it. Just five this week. Funds are tight and we have a trip to Boston to save for, so that was the dealio. Jonathan is taking in a lot of used stuff but he’s awaiting final approval on his offers. When that happens a lot of fresh used stuff will be coming in. Keep an eye on Underdog Records’ social media to find out what! Also, they post about new releases as well. And don’t forget to listen to The Less Desirables to hear the TLD/Underdog special of the week!

Discogs recently updated their Android app and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. It’s UI is great and aesthetically pleasing. It does all I want it to do in my collecting and allows me marketplace access and a randomizer to do random grabs. Check it out and start collecting.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
Scorp out!

We didn’t walk yesterday because it was misting/drizzling and I hate being wet. I didn’t want to get caught up in the deluge. Anywhat! The BCPF and I still ate at Mary’s Gourmet Diner, went to Underdog Records, did a lot of record listening and met our friends at Willows Bistro last night. Here’s our haul:

  • The Sea And Cake – Any Day – A brand new release from this jazz-infused indie rock band. I had never heard of them but The BCPF is a fan and it was pretty cool. I liked it a good bit. New.
  • The Breeders – Last Splash – The second album from the Breeders, released in 1993. They reissued them this week but we found a VG++ used 2009 reissue and it sounded fantastic. Great album.
  • Pavement – Brighten The Corners – Another fave of The BCPF’s college days. The first side was bright and funny. I didn’t pay any attention to side two. Overall, I didn’t dislike it. VG+.
  • The B-52’s – The B-52’s – This is an original pressing of their 1979 debut album. It’s in VG++ shape. It was ranked on the RS List at #152. That’s impressive. They were game changers in the new wave/classic alternative scene. Great album.
  • Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Rust Never Sleeps – #351 on the RS List. I didn’t really care for it, I don’t think, the first time I heard it. I cared just a little more this time. I think my problem with him is his voice live. He’s always straddling the proper pitch and his voice kind of rakes on my nerves. Still, it was VG+ and I have another marked off the list.
  • Tchaikovsky – Boston Pops / Arthur Fiedler – Swan Lake – NM 1964 pressing.
  • Paul McCartney & Wings – Red Rose Speedway – Someone had just brought this in to sell and I snatched it up. It has one of my top 5 Mac songs on it (“My Love”) and it was in VG condition. The rest of the album is good but I love that one song.
  • Toto – Toto – First album from a talented group of session players. This is no Toto IV but that’s okay. It has “Hold the Line,” “I’ll Supply the Love” and “Georgy Porgy” on it, all of which were released as singles along with “Rockmaker.” VG+.
  • Elvis Costello And The Attractions – Trust – VG copy of Declan Macmanus’ fifth album. I know nothing of the album but The BCPF likes Elvis Costello. We saw him live way back in 2010 or 2011.
  • Taco – After Eight – Yes! That “Puttin’ on the Ritz” guy. The whole album is in that old school standards/pop genre that the Irving Berlin tune is in. I really, really enjoyed listening to it. VG+.
  • Dire Straits – Communiqué – VG copy of Dire Straits’ second album. I know nothing of this album but I know that I have really developed a love for Dire Straits’ music. So, I’m looking forward to listening to it.
  • Blondie – Eat To The Beat – “Dreaming” is probably the best-known tune on this album, but I hear it has some other fantastical wonders on it, as well. It was a $1, so there’s that. VG.
  • Supertramp – Crime Of The Century – I’m trying to find all the Supertramp I can. I dig them and it’s good rock/pop. The two songs I recognize by title only (I haven’t listened to it, yet) are “Dreamer” and “Bloody Well Right.” The cover was beaten up and totally came apart at the glue points. I reglued that with my hot glue gun and cleaned the album up. The vinyl was in VG/VG+ condition, but there is some surface noise. $1 bin find.

Jonathan had a big purchase day from the way he talked so there’s bound to be plenty of freshly stocked used albums coming through. Watch Underdog Records’ Instagram and Facebook for the latest on their new and used acquisitions and for specials. Also, check out the ad on The Less Desirables podcast every week to hear what the TLD/Underdog special is.

Also, I use Discogs to archive my collection. There were two records I had to look up whilst in Underdog Records, yesterday. One I had and the other I didn’t. So, that saved me the guessing game. I love this service.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
Keep spinning!
