500 W 5th, a/perture cinema's street-side cinema, Downtown Winston-Salem, DWSP, Elephant in the Room, Incendiary Brewing Company, Stitch Design Shop, UNCSA Presents, Yamas Mediterranean Street Food

Salutations™!!

So, yesterday was the end of the “Big Job 2020.” A refresher here: the big job is always the videos and voice-overs for the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership’s Annual Excellence Awards. The Excellence Awards are always at the annual meeting of the DWSP in February and highlights companies, businesses, people and events that made a significant contribution to Downtown Winston-Salem the previous year. Thus, this year the awards were the 2019 Excellence Awards.

In short, the winners were (in no particular order): Yamas Mediterranean Street Food, 500 W 5th, Elephant in the Room, Stitch Design Shop, a/perture cinema’s street-side cinema,  Incendiary Brewing Company, and UNCSA Presents.

Instead of giving you a description of each one, I’m just going to let you see the videos. So, yes, it’s a video but a different kind. Note, there is a space of about five seconds between each winner. It starts with a/perture and ends with 500 W 5th. That’s how you know you’ve seen them all.

I got a lot of compliments and the winners were all “thrilled” with their vids. At least that’s what I’m told. I am always looking for ways to expand my skill sets and this is always fun, yet intensive for me. The hardest part is gathering all the info, gathering the visuals and writing the copy. Then comes the VO and then making the videos. Anyway, I’ve rambled enough. Here’s the video… enjoy!

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Salutations™!!

I was thinking yesterday morning that today I would get to rest after the “big project” but that just wasn’t what happened. I had to go in and redo a video for the DWSP and do the RSS feed for the Open the Blue Door Podcast (which I could have done from home) and then I had a meeting with a new client about another podcast to produce.

Very_Pooped_Out

Pooped!

I love those. I don’t have to put a lot of time into the show itself, just the production and on the production is where I feel I shine. Per usual, I won’t tell you about it until it’s closer to time, but we agreed to all the specs and they’re all on board. Let’s just say it has an affiliation with a local university and has the podcast has the potential to be “big!” B-I-G! Let’s hope so!

It was a good week for me and it’s not over. As of now, I have only personal errands to run tomorrow after TBD Referral Group, but you never know when that last minute emergency call comes in, right? Fingers crossed!

Salutations™!!

So today was the big day. It was the DWSP Excellence Awards for 2018. All the recipients were pleased with their videos and since it’s now over and happened, I can say who won the awards. Bailey Power Plant, The Ramkat, Cobblestone Farmers’ Market, The Canteen Bistro & Market, Fiddlin’ Fish Beer Company and Claire Calvin. Claire kind of won three times. She won for herself and her restaurants, plus she co-owns Canteen and since her Alma Mexicana restaurant was the first one in Bailey Power Plant, then she was mentioned there, as well. Also, Kim Lawson is the GM of Canteen and her husband is Richard Emmett who co-owns the Ramkat. It was a lot of one degree of separation going on today.20190227_214217

There was a hiccup that wasn’t my doing and I will address that first thing tomorrow, but otherwise, it was a great day.

Plus, we recorded Fan Interference today where we interviewed former WFU and current Arizona Hotshots (of the AAF) QB John Wolford. It was a good interview. Hailey Brooke McFadden is getting a lot of good guests for us. It is awesome. She has some big news that really goes hand-in-hand with my big news that I still haven’t announced yet because I and the entity haven’t worked out the announcement, yet.

Tonight on The Less Desirables, we had Kristen Williams in to talk about K10 Yoga. She was a great guest. And, she got D and B on the floor doing yoga, that’s something.

Stay tuned to the DWSP YouTube channel (and you know I’ll forward it here) for those Excellence Awards vids. Listen to Fan Interference HERE. Listen to TLD HERE.

Salutations™!!

I did it! Well, almost, but you can’t any closer than this. But, I have one tiny edit to make on the vid projects with DWSP. I had the director of the organization approve them today and outside that one small edit that I need to take care of BAM! We are outta there!g1369638954952825892

I feel good about it but I’m tired. I am celebrating by not doing anything out of the way until Monday (when I do the edit), so, that means blogging, too.

Salutations™!!

So, I started and finished the first three of the videos today. These are the rough cuts that need approval from the DWSP and then I make whatever edits they need and produce them and deliver them. I have three more to go. 0c03a5e430e9f9b10288edb43036202f

I have my awesome Friday morning TBD Referal Group in the morning first thing, but as soon as that meeting is over, I am going to run over and start on the next three. I also have a few other things going on that I need to do during the day but hope to have these at least most of the way done.

I told The BCPF that I was going to try my dangedest to not impose on our weekend. So, that may mean a Sunday or whatever to finish but I am on a deadline, now so I’ll just be kicking butt!

That said, I’m worn out and am calling it a night!

Salutations™!!

It’s 11:09p on Wednesday night and I’m writing this from The Less Desirables Studios in The Lab at Industry Hill. I am tired. I am hoarse. I am just getting started… or finished, at least for the night. TLDNetwork

Started with a meeting with one of my awesome clients this morning, finishing up the copy for the DWSP awards’ VO, prepping for and recording Fan Interference, prepping for and recording The Less Desirables and then, because I feel a little tickle in my throat and can’t afford to get sick right now (at least for my voice), I decided to go ahead and do the VO for the awards. So, I just finished those. Now, all I have to do is work on the video and then have the DWSP folks come to approve it and then we are d-o-n-e!

But, back to the TLD Network stuff. That’s right, as I mentioned, it’s a full complement of TLD Network shows this week, culminating with tonight’s TLD. So, because I want you to know about these things, I’m going to give you the links to each show from this week. Here goes:

The Man Who Ate the Town HERE.
The Beer Dads HERE.
Apartment 5B HERE.
Fan Interference HERE.
The Less Desirables HERE.

Plus, you can always go to the TLD Network website HERE.

I’m going home. I will do the video prep for TLD social media tomorrow. I will go to bed. I will talk to you tomorrow.

Until then, same blog channel…
Scorp is tired.

And, Wise Man Brewing will be doing another beer dinner/tap takeover (ish). You can listen to this week’s show HERE.

Salutations™!!

Dear Reader, if you remember about this time last year, I was slowed in my posts. I posted every day but my content was slim. I guess you can say that it has been a bit thin over the last bit anyway, but now, we are at the biggest job of the year for me.

I don’t have to hide what it is I’m doing but I can’t necessarily tell you details. The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership’s 2017 Downtown Excellence Awards are next Wednesday and I am the one that puts the award videos together, along with voice-overs.

1dwsp

Because the award winners are determined at the end of January and the Annual Meeting for the DWSP is end of February, that leaves little time to gather the info, write the copy (that’s The BCPF’s contribution to this), have it approved, do the voice-overs, have those approved, compile the images, put them in a video and have those approved. It’s not a simple process, not with the rest of my jobs taken into account.

So, we’re in the midst of that. Every minute that I’m not working on the podcasts this week (including not having a couple of them) and when I’m not with The Boy, 3B, I’ll probably be working on them. So, for the next week, just know that my posts will be, again, slim. Expect videos and songs.

I can still be creative without posting 350 words. Even this isn’t 350 words. I think I’ve said a good bit. You’re not on the backburner, I’m sure you understand the sitch. I appreciate your patience in this process, too.

Salutations™!!

Yesterday, The BCPF and I walked a short morning walk, ate at Mary’s Gourmet Diner and then I went to work. We left the studio around 5:30p and went to eat, which was a small adventure, but we had wine and that’s okay. We’re back to the studio this morning to finish the work that I’m charged with. See you tomorrow…

Salutations™!!

One of my favorite events in downtown WSNC is the Salute! Wine Festival and that’s tomorrow, June 4, from noon-6pm (rain or shine), and The BCPF and I will be there!!! The biggest reason it’s my favorite isn’t the wine (that’s probably second or third or something, perhaps ninth?), but it’s the fact that I get to hover around on Fourth Street in the downtown of my hometown and the city that I love. It is my preferred festival for several reasons: There’s plenty of shade. It doesn’t smell like horse poop. It appeals to a more distinguished crowd. The buildings laid out on the street creates a natural breezeway which means it’s cooler and those buildings hold restaurants and other businesses that make the experience better.

1045x299_fill_header

Possibly one of the best parts of the festival is the Food & Wine University which will feature Chef Stephanie Tyson of Sweet Potatoes paired with Hanover Park Vineyards, Chef Richard Miller of Graze paired with Raylen Vineyards, my buddy and pal, Chef Travis Myers of Willow’s Bistro paired with what I was told was JOLO but the press release says Jones von Drehl Vineyards, former The Less Desirables guest, Chef Kristina Fuller of Crafted: Art of the Taco/Street Food is paired with Raffaldini and another former The Less Desirables guest, Chef Tirra Cowan from Black Mountain Chocolate paired with Lake James Cellars. It’s good stuff, every year, and I’m glad to get to see some of it.

There will be over 30 wineries/meaderies/brewers to choose from on this day. Tickets are $25 in advance (which means you better buy today!) or $30 the day of the event. I promise you won’t have a bad time here. The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership and their fearless leader, Jason Thiel (with Mary Charlotte and Mackenzie) know how to throw a party and this is going to be awesome!!! You can buy your tix, find more info and all that jazz by visiting the Salute! website. Find me and stop me and say hello! Really. Do that.

Until tomorrow (when I’ll be wining it up), same blog channel…
