Salutations™!!

The BCPF’s and my day yesterday was a bit weird. We had breakfast and Underdog Records but we had to go to an event for her work in Greensboro yesterday afternoon. It wasn’t a normal Saturday, but we were together, so there’s that. Here’s the haul:

©Temporary Residence Limited

Björk – Post — #376 on the RS list that matters and #289 on the one that doesn’t. I remember listening to it, but don’t remember a lot about it. I went back and read my review of it and it really kicked my behind. I dug it, even included it in a summation on what I did or didn’t like or what what stood out to me. New.

Rolling Stones – Beggars Banquet — #58 on the RS list that matters, #185 on the one that doesn’t. I couldn’t believe I didn’t have this already. Anniversary Edition. Packaged in slip cover with gatefold LP sleeve containing the LP and 12″ 45 rpm disc, a bonus picture sleeve with a flexi disc plus a download card for mp3s of the album and bonus content. Flip side of the 45 rpm disc is embossed with an image of the gatefold front cover. While it is classified as used, it’s still sealed (until I open it), so I’m going to say “New” instead.

The Magnetic Fields – The Charm Of The Highway Strip — The third studio album by American indie pop band The Magnetic Fields, released in 1994. It is the first Magnetic Fields album to have its original release with record label Merge (based in Durham, NC). We listened to it yesterday. The BCPF loves this band. I am mostly indifferent. The “mostly” leans toward not liking them. But, I don’t dislike them. New.

Explosions In The Sky – Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever — I know nothing of this band and I haven’t heard it yet. This is from the bastion of truth, accuracy and veracity – Wikipedia: The band garnered a small amount of media attention as the liner notes of this album contained a picture of an airplane and the text “This Plane Will Crash Tomorrow”. A rumor circulated that the album was released on September 10, 2001, the day before the September 11, 2001 attacks, but this is not true. According to Amazon.com, the album was officially released September 4, 2001, exactly one week before the attacks. An interview with Stylus claims the album was available as early as August 24, 2001. Members of the band told Stylus that they had the artwork and idea for the liner notes for over a year before the attacks on the World Trade Center. Has a 20th anniversary Temporary Residence sticker on the cover. Colored labels. New.

Various – Russian Souvenir – Russian Songs And Dances / Русский Сувенир – Русские Песни И Пляски — Just an addition to our World Music collection. EX.

Jonathan has some used stuff to go through in the store which means it’s a good possibility of having a lot of “freshly used” stuff for purchase. You can buy new vinyl, day or night, 24/7, 365 by visiting the Underdog Records website. I use Discogs to track my collection and you should, too!

And lastly, don’t forget to listen to the Beeswax Vinyl Daily podcast. Yeah, I know I reminded you earlier this week but it’s a “Daily” podcast afterall. Subscribe and get it when it comes out!

Until tomorrow, keep spinnin’…
Scorp out!

“I watched with glee while your kings and queens fought for ten decades for the gods they made. I shouted out, “Who killed the Kennedys?” Well, after all, it was you and me. Let me please introduce myself, I’m a man of wealth and taste. And I laid traps for troubadours who get killed before they reach Bombay.” – “Sympathy for the Devil” (Jagger/Richards)
