Now Normal Chronicles or: Out of Control

Salutations™!!

Today is the 56th anniversary of Dusty Springfield’s A Girl Called Dusty. I love her voice. She was great. Today is the 50th anniversary of McCartney from Sir Paul. Not my fave of his, album wise, but I love “Maybe I’m Amazed.” I always have and I especially love it when Clay sings it. It is the 47th anniversary of my favorite album from the Eagles, Desperado. And, it’s the 38th anniversary of Motörhead’s Iron Fist. I don’t care anything about Motörhead so that’s out. So, Eagles it is…

I have very fond memories of learning how to play the title track on the piano, even performing it live in Heavens Sake. I would do an original I wrote called “RainTree” and then do “Desperado.” Then the whole band would do the “Theme from Cheers” followed by an HS original, “Second Time Around.” I love a lot of this album. I could do without “Twenty-One” but other than that, I really like the rest of it. Especially this tune… Enjoy!

“Go down, Bill Dalton, it must be God’s will. Two brothers lying dead in Coffeyville. Two voices call to you from where they stood. Lay down your law books now, they’re no damn good.” – “Doolin-Dalton” (Henley/Frey/Souther/Browne)
