Salutations™!!
If you’re a celebrator of Valentine’s Day, then Happy Valentine’s Day. If you’re like me, one of the ones who do not celebrate it, then Happy Sunday. Now, I’m not being a curmudgeon. I love Valentine’s Day for one thing. An excuse to have delicious food. I think we’re having filet tonight.
But, I don’t think that celebrating DeBeers, Whitman’s, FTD, and Hallmark’s bastardization of a holiday that traditionally was about celebrating your best companion is fun. I celebrate my best girl year round.. Also, and I think The BCPF would back me up on this, we do a lot for each other throughout the year that we don’t need a special day to put diamonds, chocolate, flowers and disposable paper “cards” in the mix when I do those things throughout the year and it doesn’t cost three times as much, ya know. That’s the reason I don’t like the holiday. Not that I’m a cheapskate either. I would pay the going rate for any of that stuff all throughout the year. It’s just that they are fleecing us all for the week (or dare I say month+) leading to this day.
Mother’s Day is almost as bad, but I do honor my mother as well as my wife who is the best step(h)mom on the planet. But, those companies gouge those prices high for the holidays. I prefer to not get a card for Father’s Day, just some time spent with me is what makes me happy. Birthdays are different because that day is the day of the person whose birth is being celebrated. Cards are good for that, although I rarely give them.
So, again, happy Valentine’s Day to you if you celebrate and happy Daytona 500 if you celebrate that and happy Sunday if that’s what you care about. That’s The BCPF and me.
Until tomorrow, when you’ll get the “haul”…
Scorp out!
