The Arts Council of Winston Salem and Forsyth County, which has three theatres at The Milton Rhodes Center in downtown Winston-Salem, will continue to operate with normal hours, unless or until instructed otherwise by the City or Forsyth County. The Arts Council will leave decisions about proceeding with previously planned productions in its venues to the presenting organizations. Persons with tickets to performances scheduled for a venue at the Milton Rhodes Center, or who anticipate purchasing tickets, should check with the respective presenting organizations or call The Milton Rhodes Center at 336.722.2585 for updates.
Meanwhile, Milton Rhodes Center staff are taking extraordinary precautions in line with the best information on how to prevent infection from the coronavirus, including following official guidelines issued by local and state government, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
Randy Eaddy, President and CEO of The Arts Council, said, “These are disruptive and challenging times for every member of our community. We will do everything we can to support the community’s amazing organizations and artists who make this a ‘City of Arts and Innovation’. NC Black Repertory Company
A NOTE TO OUR PATRONS
In response to the increasing challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), NC Black Rep has rescheduled its production of Freedom Summer to April 30-May 3, 2020. Our May production of Phenomenal Woman: Maya Angelou has been rescheduled to August 1-16, 2020. As a ticket holder, you will have the option to exchange your tickets for one of the rescheduled performances. If you have purchased tickets and are unable to attend one of the rescheduled performances, a refund will be processed. NC Black Rep will be contacting ticket holders in the coming weeks regarding both of these options.
Although this was a difficult decision to make, NC Black Rep is committed to the health and safety of our patrons and employees as our society confronts the unprecedented challenges that lie ahead. We will continue to monitor the situation and implement any, and all measures aimed at protecting the NC Black Rep family and Winston-Salem community at large. NC Black Rep would like to offer a special thanks to the artists and technical professionals impacted by our decision, all of whom have been nothing short of gracious and understanding in their responses.

Old Salem Museums & Gardens
Old Salem Museums & Gardens Will Temporarily Close to the Public
End of Day Friday, March 13, 2020
Old Salem Museums & Gardens is committed to the health and safety of its visitors, volunteers, staff, and community and is continually monitoring the development of Coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as following updates and recommendations from local, state, and national health officials, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. As COVID-19 continues to spread, Old Salem has determined that the best course of action is to temporarily close the museums to the public effective at the close of business today, Friday, March 13, 2020.
“At Old Salem Museums & Gardens, the health and wellbeing of our visitors, staff, and colleagues are our number one priority,” said Frank Vagnone, President and CEO. “Our museum colleagues, both in North Carolina and nationally, are taking similar steps to protect the public and limit the spread of the virus. We will continue to monitor this rapidly changing situation and provide you with regular updates as the situation evolves.”
Recognizing the impact this decision may have on school groups and individuals who were scheduled to visit the historical district, Old Salem has created “Old Salem Exploratorium” a series of 5- to 10-minute experiences that will bring viewers into direct visual (but not physical!) contact with their master craftsman and educators. Each episode will bring viewers “up close and personal” with Old Salem’s craft workshops, seed-saving lab, archeology lab, gardens, Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, and behind-the-scenes collections. Watch the first episode entitled “Geology, Pottery, and Place” and learn more about Old Salem Exploratorium at this link oldsalem.org/visit/exploratorium.

If any more come through, I’ll post them for you. Just because I didn’t post them here doesn’t mean they’re not announcing something. I only post what I’ve been sent pressers for as that’s part of my duty to you and to the organizations that trust me to do so.
So, forgoing my usual sign off as I may be back soon…
Scorp out!
