Salutations™!!

I was thinking yesterday morning that today I would get to rest after the “big project” but that just wasn’t what happened. I had to go in and redo a video for the DWSP and do the RSS feed for the Open the Blue Door Podcast (which I could have done from home) and then I had a meeting with a new client about another podcast to produce.

Very_Pooped_Out

Pooped!

I love those. I don’t have to put a lot of time into the show itself, just the production and on the production is where I feel I shine. Per usual, I won’t tell you about it until it’s closer to time, but we agreed to all the specs and they’re all on board. Let’s just say it has an affiliation with a local university and has the podcast has the potential to be “big!” B-I-G! Let’s hope so!

It was a good week for me and it’s not over. As of now, I have only personal errands to run tomorrow after TBD Referral Group, but you never know when that last minute emergency call comes in, right? Fingers crossed!

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Salutations™!!

So today was the big day. It was the DWSP Excellence Awards for 2018. All the recipients were pleased with their videos and since it’s now over and happened, I can say who won the awards. Bailey Power Plant, The Ramkat, Cobblestone Farmers’ Market, The Canteen Bistro & Market, Fiddlin’ Fish Beer Company and Claire Calvin. Claire kind of won three times. She won for herself and her restaurants, plus she co-owns Canteen and since her Alma Mexicana restaurant was the first one in Bailey Power Plant, then she was mentioned there, as well. Also, Kim Lawson is the GM of Canteen and her husband is Richard Emmett who co-owns the Ramkat. It was a lot of one degree of separation going on today.20190227_214217

There was a hiccup that wasn’t my doing and I will address that first thing tomorrow, but otherwise, it was a great day.

Plus, we recorded Fan Interference today where we interviewed former WFU and current Arizona Hotshots (of the AAF) QB John Wolford. It was a good interview. Hailey Brooke McFadden is getting a lot of good guests for us. It is awesome. She has some big news that really goes hand-in-hand with my big news that I still haven’t announced yet because I and the entity haven’t worked out the announcement, yet.

Tonight on The Less Desirables, we had Kristen Williams in to talk about K10 Yoga. She was a great guest. And, she got D and B on the floor doing yoga, that’s something.

Stay tuned to the DWSP YouTube channel (and you know I’ll forward it here) for those Excellence Awards vids. Listen to Fan Interference HERE. Listen to TLD HERE.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Salutations™!!

I totally missed the 34th anniversary of Tears for Fears’ Songs From The Big Chair yesterday, but I was busy working. So, because I worked all day and am worn out, I’m going to make up for it today by doing a video. It’s a cover of one of my all time favorite songs and it’s by Ninja Sex Party. It’s a pretty groovy cover, too. Enjoy!

Ray and I had a great conversation with Brandon Cassidy, owner/operator of the Food Freaks food truck. On The Beer Dads, we talked about oversharing parents and/or kids whose entire lives are on the internet/social media.

The project is done and I’ve turned in the final cuts. I’ve been paid and I’m worn out. But, we’re ready to show off what we’ve been doing on Wednesday morning.

Chipmunks, Discogs, Slim Whitman, Supertramp, The Carpenters, The Outlaws, Todd Rundgren, Underdog Records

Salutations™!!

I saw a meme yesterday, pretty much admonishing John Fogerty that yes, indeed, we have seen the (expletive) rain. Rain is needed but we have had our fill over the last three months. It’s winter, couldn’t it at least be snow or something? Anywhat! We did get around to Underdog Records despite the inclement weather and came home with a modest haul. Good stuff, though. Here it is:

Supertramp_-_Even_in_the_Quietest_Moments

©A&M

  • Supertramp – Even In The Quietest Moments… — As I stated on my Facebook and Instagram posts with this, the rule in our house is if there’s a Supertramp album that isn’t in our Discogs collection, then it must be purchased. This was the album right before their megahit, Breakfast in America. VG+.
  • Todd Rundgren – Initiation — I guess the same rule for Supertramp applies to Rundgren, too because if we see it, we check to see if we have it, we add it if needed. So, there. This was his sixth studio album and on it, he embraced the synth-driven direction he had been toying with. VG+.
  • Carpenters – Horizon — Their sixth album and the first not to be a top 5 hit in the US. This one only reached #13. The following albums continued a downward trend and they never again held the acclaim they did at the beginning of their career. VG++.
  • The Chipmunks – Chipmunk Punk — My sister had this when we were growing up and I listened to it more than she did. I loved it. I realized, though, rather quickly that this isn’t that good. Unlike the Urban Chipmunk album, I can’t tell what the heck they’re saying and knowing this was a kid’s album that they let some of the songs stay on the album. In particular, “Good Girls Don’t” and “My Sharona” from The Knack. I love the songs and yes, they were hits on the radio, but for the time (1980), they were pretty racy to have as “kid” songs. I apologized to The BCPF after listening yesterday for making her sit through that. VG.
  • The Outlaws – Outlaws — The album is known for the rock classic “Green Grass & High Tides,” which is considered by many to be one of the greatest guitar songs, plus the hit single “There Goes Another Love Song.” $1 bin find. VG.
  • Slim Whitman – All My Best — I think I remember seeing the adverts for this on TV as a kid. I couldn’t resist paying $1 for it. It’s in decent shape but the outer sleeve is made of cheap flimsy cardboard, as I think a lot of those “as seen on TV” records probably were. VG.

So, the haul was “modest” but it’s the end of the month and we were running a little low on funds. We had a couple of other things we were wanting but we’ll pick those up (based on availability) next week. I hope, too, that I will get my first “Curated by Underdog” package. I look forward to that. You should visit the Underdog Records website and find out more about that program. If it sounds good to you and you want to sign up, tell Jonathan that I sent you. And, use your Discogs to curate your own collection!

Until tomorrow, keep spinning…

Salutations™!!

Today is the 26th anniversary of the Van Halen Live album, Live: Right Here, Right Now and I thought it was a good album. I saw them on this tour and enjoyed the show. Here’s a band from another country (I’m sorry I don’t know which one) but they recorded their first rehearsal of this tune and here it is. I always liked the song. The timing is a little weird but it’s still good. They did a good job, I think.

Salutations™!!

I did it! Well, almost, but you can’t any closer than this. But, I have one tiny edit to make on the vid projects with DWSP. I had the director of the organization approve them today and outside that one small edit that I need to take care of BAM! We are outta there!g1369638954952825892

I feel good about it but I’m tired. I am celebrating by not doing anything out of the way until Monday (when I do the edit), so, that means blogging, too.

Salutations™!!

So, I started and finished the first three of the videos today. These are the rough cuts that need approval from the DWSP and then I make whatever edits they need and produce them and deliver them. I have three more to go. 0c03a5e430e9f9b10288edb43036202f

I have my awesome Friday morning TBD Referal Group in the morning first thing, but as soon as that meeting is over, I am going to run over and start on the next three. I also have a few other things going on that I need to do during the day but hope to have these at least most of the way done.

I told The BCPF that I was going to try my dangedest to not impose on our weekend. So, that may mean a Sunday or whatever to finish but I am on a deadline, now so I’ll just be kicking butt!

That said, I’m worn out and am calling it a night!

Salutations™!!

It’s 11:09p on Wednesday night and I’m writing this from The Less Desirables Studios in The Lab at Industry Hill. I am tired. I am hoarse. I am just getting started… or finished, at least for the night. TLDNetwork

Started with a meeting with one of my awesome clients this morning, finishing up the copy for the DWSP awards’ VO, prepping for and recording Fan Interference, prepping for and recording The Less Desirables and then, because I feel a little tickle in my throat and can’t afford to get sick right now (at least for my voice), I decided to go ahead and do the VO for the awards. So, I just finished those. Now, all I have to do is work on the video and then have the DWSP folks come to approve it and then we are d-o-n-e!

But, back to the TLD Network stuff. That’s right, as I mentioned, it’s a full complement of TLD Network shows this week, culminating with tonight’s TLD. So, because I want you to know about these things, I’m going to give you the links to each show from this week. Here goes:

The Man Who Ate the Town HERE.
The Beer Dads HERE.
Apartment 5B HERE.
Fan Interference HERE.
The Less Desirables HERE.

Plus, you can always go to the TLD Network website HERE.

I’m going home. I will do the video prep for TLD social media tomorrow. I will go to bed. I will talk to you tomorrow.

Until then, same blog channel…
Scorp is tired.

Salutations™!!

Here we are, again, Dear Reader. We’re in the middle of February and that means that I’m working on the “big project” for the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership. This is their 2018 Excellence Awards (yes 2018, because it’s for the accomplishments in 2018). 51735369_2357390400947372_6806129601891270656_n

What does that mean for you? Well, it is more about what it means for me. I will be working a lot of my free time over the next few days (possibly into next week) getting the video presentations done for the DWSP. So, a lot of my writings will probably be scaled down or very scarce over those days. It should all be back to normal the middle of next week.

So, I am asking you for patience and understanding. None of the podcasts are going to miss. In fact, if all goes well, this week will have a full complement of TLD Network shows. Keep an eye on the Network website for more info.

Until tomorrow, stay classy…
Scorp out!
