City Beverage, the Official Beer Sponsor of The Less Desirables, presents Jai Alai India Pale Ale by Cigar City Brewing, The Less Desirables Beer of the Week.jaialai

Cigar City has made its way to NC and we get to try their award-winning brews on this show. I don’t know how this will be but I’m glad it’s here. I hear about Cigar City a lot on my drinking circles but because they’re new to here we’ve not had a chance to have many. Yes, this is an IPA but it is new and I’m wanting to try it. It’s 7.5% ABV and its IBUs are 70. Bring it on!

BeerAdvocate has it at 94 (Outstanding) and a Bros Score of 100 (World-Class)!! Wow! Untappd has it at 4.04 caps out of 5. RateBeer has it at 99 in style and overall. Those are all unbelievable numbers. I hope I like it. Have you tried it? What did you think? If you haven’t or just have a hankering for more, head to City Beverage and grab your sixer. Tell them it’s the TLD beer of the week and get 5% off your order.

If you’re wondering what Jai Alai is, first it’s pronounced Hi-ah-Lie but when you say it right it just comes out Hi Lie. Second, it’s like lacrosse and squash had a baby, kind of. You have these crazy hooked cups on your hand and you sling and catch it with that device. It looks fun but I wouldn’t want to try it. That’s too much running.

Tune in later tonight or tomorrow and see what Caitlin, Danielle, Bill, Shana and I thought about it.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
Scorp out!

“Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt whilst the ball travels at speeds up to 188mph! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dubbed this game, with its ball traveling at racecar speeds, ‘the merry game.'” – Cigar City website
