I’ve had a He’Brew beer before and after going back and looking it up, it was this one. Oh well, that was back in 2014, so let’s give it another shot. I love that all of Shmaltz (He’Brew) beers have biblical, specifically, Hebrew leanings and names. And since today is Ash Wednesday, why not go along, even if my religion is non-prophet…?
According to the Shmaltz website, this beer is: A Complex yet smooth blend of bold dark malts revealing hints of chocolate, coffee, and toffee paired with a lovely hop character. I really don’t remember much about it so I guess that’s good. Is it bad that I can’t remember anything about it? Not necessarily. I try a lot of beer. Also, Caitlin is out this week so I didn’t have to take any IPAs into account. This beer is 5.2% ABV.
BeerAdvocate has it rated at 82 (Good) with no Bros Score. Untappd has it at 3.46 caps out of 5. RateBeer has it at 49 Overall, 54 in Style. None of those are spectacular ratings, but I’m keeping my hopes up. Have you had it? What did you think? If you’ve not had it or just have a hankering for more, head down to City Bev and grab you a sixer. Tell them that it’s the beer of the week and get 5% off your order. Tune in late tonight or early tomorrow and hear what Danielle, our harem of guests from Piedmont Opera and I think of it.
Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
