Well, here’s a Foothills beer on The Less Desirables. Not that I’ve averted the selection from there, it’s just we can have that anytime we want. But, a couple of things have converged to make it so today. You know that I co-write the “Tapped Into Craft” article for Piedmont Local Magazine every month, right? Well, it was requested that we do something from the Piedmont and well, this is as close to “Piedmont” as you can get, I think. Plus, next week’s guest has already requested that we don’t have anything hoppy and I don’t know that Caitlin would allow me to have something malty or wheaty two weeks in a row without beating my arse, so I went with the Jade.
I have only had it once and I believe that was after some other beers so I don’t know that I got the full flavor of it. I know it’s hoppy but I don’t know if it’s ridiculously so. I don’t think that it is from what I’ve heard others say. I’m definitely gonna give it a fair shake. My days of dismissing Foothills are over. I think it’s the “new” brewery that does it. Not everything finishes like Hoppium, now. It’s 7.4% ABV, so that is a plus.
BeerAdvocate rates it at 95 (World Class) with no Bros Score. Untappd has it at 3.95 caps out of 5. RateBeer has it at 97 Overall and 97 in Style. Those are some pretty high marks. I’ve probably not given it its due. So, again, I’ll go in with an open mind tonight. Have you tried it? What did you think? If not, or if you just have a hankering for more, head to City Beverage and tell them it’s the TLD beer of the week and get 5% off your order! Tune in tonight and hear what Caitlin, Danielle, Spirit Gum Theatre Company and I think about it.
Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
