City Beverage, the Official Beer Sponsor of The Less Desirables, presents Citradelic Tangerine IPA from New Belgium Brewing, The Less Desirables Beer of the Week. New Belgium is a big name in beer and are now bi-coastal, at least bi-time-zoned. Their original location and headquarters are in Ft. Collins, Colorado and New Belgium East is in our backyard, Asheville, NC. It’s not clear on their website if they’re brewing in Asheville, yet, but there is mention about the label for this beer saying both Ft. Collins and Asheville (and it does, I looked). It also mentions the New Belgium Bowl 2016 in celebration of the Super Bowl. Get it? Colorado and North Carolina.
From what I was told about this beer, by Spencer Davis at City Beverage, this is a light IPA but you get the tangerine fruit forward and since oranges are my favorite fruit, therein taking tangerines and tangelos and all that jazz into account, I look forward to trying this. I’m allowing some IPAs back in my drinking routine and I think this will be a good experiment, at the least. According to the label: Citra hops and tangerine elevate each sip onto a plane of juicy tropical pleasure. Sounds good to me. It sits at 6% ABV so that’s right on par for what I’d look for in a fruity IPA.
BeerAdvocate has rated at 88 (Very Good) with no Bro Score. Untappd has it at 3.72 caps out of 5. Good ratings indeed. Have you had this beer, yet? Well, if you’re wanting to try it, run down to City Beverage and grab your own sixer. That way you’ll have it tomorrow when you listen to the show and see how Caitlin, Bruce, any guests and I rate the brew. Let us know what you think.
Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
