This beer is one of Lagunitas’ “2015 OneHitter Series” and, according to the carton, is a “highly limited release.” It’s a double alt ale. That’s basically a way of saying a German brown ale, I think. That’s what Spencer told me about it. Lagunitas has been around for 20+ years and has a reputation with several of its beers, and usually, you love them or hate them. I am one of the few, probably, that is in the middle of the road with them. I mean I’m about done with hops, as I’ve said so their Pale Ale and IPA and stuff like that, not so much. Little Sumpin’ I don’t mind. I know there’s pictures of hops on this packaging and the IBUs are 66, I’m hoping it’s got flavor to offset that. The upside is that it’s 7.7% ABV and that’s a good thing! Here’s hoping that this one is a winner.
BeerAdvocate has it at 90 (OUTSTANDING) and Untappd has it at 3.91 caps out of 5. Both are fantastic ratings. Hate you tried it, yet? You can get your own sixer at City Beverage, 915 Burke Street in WSNC, and tell Spencer that you know this is The Less Desirables Beer of the Week, you’ll get 5% off your order! Tune in this week to hear what Caitlin, Eugene, Doug Davis and I think of this beer.
Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
