We’ve had a few Terrapin brews in the past and they’ve been mostly good. Yes, too, we’ve started getting away from IPAs and Pales, but sometimes you just gotta, ya know? I’m kind of looking forward to it, just to see how the rye interacts with the brew. I’m not going to say I’m excited about it, but I hope that I’m pleased with it. Also, it is in cans instead of bottles. I don’t know what else to say about it as it pertains to us trying it.
BeerAdvocate has it rated at 86 (Very Good) and a Bro Score of 81 (Good). Untappd has it at 3.54 caps out of 5. It’s an ABV of 5.5% and it’s IBU is only 35 so it’s not over the top hoppy. We’ll see. Have you tried this beer? If so, let us know how you like it. If not, go down to 915 Burke Street in WSNC and pick up a sixer from City Beverage. Tell Spencer that you heard it was the beer of the week and get 5% off. Also, tune in this week to see how Caitlin, Eugene, our Official Guest Jen Oleniczak, her boyfriend (and former TLD guest) Alex Brown and perhaps a few audience members along with me feel about this beer. I’m expecting Crazy Caiti to like it, if for no other reason but it’s not dark.
Do you have a beer you’d like to hear us rate? Let us know.
Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
“By using an exact amount of rye, a grain seldom found in other micro brewed beers, the Rye Pale Ale acquires its signature taste. Made with five varieties of hops and a generous amount of specialty malts, it offers a complex flavor and aroma that is both aggressive and well balanced – a rare find among beers.” – Terrapin website
