Salutations™!!

City Beverage, the Official Beer Sponsor of The Less Desirables, presents Vienna Lager from Devil’s Backbone as The Less Desirables Beer of the Week.

Devil’s Backbone just arrived here in NC from Lexington, VA. It’s on tap at a few places around town, including City Beverage, but the only bottles that Spencer had were of the1aBrown Vienna Lager. I have tried the Vienna Lager twice this week already (once on The Beer Dads Podcast) and look forward to having another tonight! It’s a light and refreshing lager that doesn’t overpower you and gives a decent malty flavor. You’ll have to tune in to The Less Desirables tonight or tomorrow (or this weekend) to hear about how Eugene, Doug Davis along with whomever else comes from Mediocre Bad Guys and I rate this beer.

Some of Vienna Lager’s accolades are:

2015 – Australian International Beer Awards: Bronze
2014 – World Beer Cup: Silver (Vienna-Style Lager)
2014 – Virginia Craft Brewers Festival: Gold (Vienna & Oktoberfest)
2014 – Australian International Beer Awards: Silver
2013 – Australian International Beer Competition: Silver
2012 – Great American Beer Festival: Gold (Vienna-Style Lager)
2012 – World Beer Cup: Gold (Vienna-Style Lager)
2009 – Great American Beer Festival: Silver (Vienna-Style Lager)

On Untappd, it sits at 3.6 out of 5 caps. On BeerAdvocate it’s rated an 85% Very Good from the general population. It’s listed as 4.9% ABV so it’s a good drinkable every day beer.  If you’ve not tried it, run to City Beverage, 915 Burke Street in downtown WSNC, and grab a sixer and listen to The Less Desirables to hear more.

Until tomorrow, same blog channel…
Scorp out!

“With its amber chestnut colored good looks and smooth malty finish, Vienna Lager was an obvious choice to put into bottles. It blends color and flavor without heaviness or bitterness. Just as Vienna Lagers historically inspired Munich’s Oktoberfest beers to evolve, this amber lager has evolved since we opened in 2008 into the award winning beer it is today. Experience the taste and tradition.” – Devil’s Backbone Vienna Lager Webpage
