The BCPF and I have season tix to the PNC Broadway Lights Series at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte. Yesterday we saw Phantom of the Opera. I had seen the show before with a friend of mine and she (the friend) had to keep waking me up as I slept through the entire first act. This time, however, I stayed awake for the whole thing.
A disclaimer about the sleeping part. It isn’t because it’s a boring show, it certainly isn’t. In fact the first time I had seen it, I had waited 20+ years to see it and was quite disappointed that I slept through it. I have sleep apnea and at the time was very stubborn and wouldn’t wear my CPAP. It’s what I call “Theatrical Narcolepsy.” But, now that I am a more consistent user of the CPAP, I don’t fall asleep as easily.
The performance was good, we had an understudy for the Phantom. I thought he did a good job, but I always feel I am getting gypped a little, but I have to realize, I suppose, that these are professionals and it’s like watching the 2nd string QB in football. I would still rather have seen the main player. Christine was hitting the high notes but seemed a bit thin. All in all, I did enjoy the show, as I believe The BCPF did, as well.
The picture today is of the chandelier, which is rare that we get to take them of these things as they’re all copyrighted and pictures are not usually allowed. We were able to take this one during intermission.
Until tomorrow, same blog channel…

Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before
Close your eyes let your spirit start to soar
